Arsenal vs Sheffield United Preview:
Premier League returns with some amazing matches. Arsenal embarrassingly sit at 10th position being surprisingly 4 points behind Sheffield. Can Arsenal climb up the table? We provide it below:
Nobody would have predicted Sheffield to be sitting at 6th in the Premier League after half of the campaign has gone. Arteta has injected a new life in Arsenal’s campaign. They are showcasing high intensity, high pressing and entertaining football. After a undeserving loss against Chelsea whom they dominated for large parts, they beat United along with nicking a point against Palace. Sitting a massive 11 points behind a top four stop, it looks unimaginable for them to achieve it and there focus might shift fully towards Europa League if they fail to string some wins together and able to reduce the gap. With Chelsea next week, a win in this match and a positive result against Chelsea can kickstart a top four chance for Gunners.
Sheffield on the other hand have been a breath of fresh air in this dull Premier League season. Chris Wilder has recently signed a new contract. He has been one of the most amazing manager along with Jurgen Klopp this year. Everyone thought they’ll fall at some point but they just never go away from top 8. Sitting a mere 7 points behind Chelsea and above Spurs and Arsenal is in itself a major achievement for this Sheffield side. Last week saw them earn a controversial win against West Ham, after VAR harshly ruled West Ham goal off at last minute off injury time. But to be fair, Sheffield have suffered the most from VAR so they deserved some luck. Sheffield and Arsenal have lost same amount of games but Arsenal have got a staggering 10 draws this term. This fixture could prove very pivotal for both teams and Arsenal won’t want to be 7 points behind Sheffield.
Their last encounter started the downfall for Arsenal. Since then, they sniffed out only 2 wins from 13 matches with earning humongous 7 draws in as many games. The match was won by Sheffield 1-0 where Arsenal struggled to create any meaningful chances. Sheffield will again create a wall for Arsenal to break and missing Aubameyang could be a big blow to Arsenal’s hope of winning this match.
Arsenal would miss Chambers and Tierney for Long time. Kolasinac, Bellerin and Cebellos are also doubtful to appear against Sheffield this week. Aubameyang is suspended for his red card offence and Torreira is expected to be fit for Sheffield clash. (Football.London).
Sheffield on the other hand have no injury doubts and are expected to be full strength against Arsenal.(Sportskeeda)
Predicted Line up:
Arsenal: Leno Maitland Niles Luiz Sokratis Saka Xhaka Torreira Pepe Ozil Nelson Lacazette
Sheff Utd: Henderson Basham Egan O’Connell Baldock Lundstram Norwood Fleck Stevens Mcburnie Mcgoldrick
Arsenal 0-2 Sheffield United
Now this might surprise some of you, but i beleive we are going to witness a massive surprise this week. Arteta wants his team to play high pressing football with having high intensity. This is all well and good but after watching matches against Palace and Chelsea, they would tire out and leave spaces for opposition. Sheffield would try to keep it 0-0 and target their vulnerable defence. I beleive Arteta has to go with a back three to beat Sheffield otherwise Sheffield would nullify them and score after Arsenal’s intensity falls away.
