The premier league season is among us. Goosebumps on last minute goals, anger on losing is back. Joy and happiness on winning will also return. Saturdays sundays will become football days. Mid week days will feel like weekends. Finally the beautiful and most competitive football league is back.
Now i give my predictions for the upcoming season. The predictions are in order from bottom to top:
20th Norwich City
Ibrahim Amadou becomes our fifth signing of the summer, joining on a season-long loan deal from Sevilla! 😁✌️ #ncfc
— Norwich City FC (@NorwichCityFC) August 7, 2019
I am very excited to see what Daniel Farke will do with this Norwich side this year. They were courageous and enjoyable team to watch last year in the Championship. He wants them to play in a modern way. They are an exciting side who really took Championship by surprise. But i believe they haven’t done enough in the transfer window. The squad is mostly the same as their Championship squad. The defence is weak which could cause major problems for them.
— Brighton & Hove Albion ⚽️ (@OfficialBHAFC) August 6, 2019
Hard work, grit, strong are some words to describe this Brighton side. No one expected them to survive 2 seasons in the premier league when they were promoted in 2017. Brighton’s problem over the years has been goal scoring. Chris Hughton deserves a lot of praise for bringing them up here. Sacking him really struck me as a very wrong decision. I understand the intention as they did not perform well last year. But they still don’t have a very strong squad. They have spent some reasonable amount but the players they have signed doesn’t inspire their survival chances. They have got Graham Potter as their coach. He is young and a brave coach who wants to play good football. It is his first season in the premier league.

✍️ 8th Aug – Besic & Verrips.

— Sheffield United (@SheffieldUnited) August 8, 2019
I had a big doubt for this position. Newcastle, Crystal Palace were another teams who i think could be in trouble. But i went for Sheffield due to lack of experience and Squad weakness. Mcburnie and Mousset have arrived along with Jagielka. Jagielka adds experience but for others you can’t be sure what to expect. Chris Wilder excites me but i believe They won’t be able to survive.
17th Crystal Palace
📝 Introducing Gary Cahill and our brand new third kit…#CPFC
— Crystal Palace F.C. (@CPFC) August 5, 2019
This side has always amazed to surprise people. At times they look like a good mid table side and at times a relegation candidate. They are a courageous side with bravery as their main attribute in defence. But losing Wan Bissaka is a huge blow. Cahill is a good addition to the defence which already has Sakho as a brave and strong defender. But Zaha’s future might be a huge problem for them to solve. When he’s on his best he is a brave player who gives you goosebumps and excitement. But Zaha has not been granted a move to a top 6 side which could play a big part. NO one can lie he has been the difference for the Palace side. If he is not on his game or moves in January, I could sense tough year for Palace fans.
16th AFC Bournemouth
Can we have the bill please? 🙋♂️ pic.twitter.com/BbzrqjM5y2
— AFC Bournemouth (@afcbournemouth) July 29, 2019
Now this might surprise some people as they would not expect Bournemouth to be up here. They are good mid table side who everyone expects to see finish top 13. I expect them to survive without much problems. But i expect to finish around 40 mark. Nathan Ake future could be doubt in January if Chelsea get transfer ban lifted. They have buy back clause which can get them Ake for 40 Million. Bournemouth are exciting, Brave and a enjoyable side to watch. Eddie Howe is a young and exciting British manager who loves to play beautiful and exciting football. But i believe they are lacking in some areas where they could struggle but have enough to survive.
15th Newcastle United
🇧🇷 Take a look at the profile of Joelinton, Newcastle United's new club record signing!
— Newcastle United FC (@NUFC) July 23, 2019
What a summer its been If you are an Newcastle fan. From Rafael Benitez leaving to the arrival of Steve Bruce. They have had a fine window. From signing Joelinton to Allan Saint Maximin. But they also have lost Ayoze Perez to Leicester. Overall losing Rafa will be a big loss. Steve Bruce as much as he is not a bad manager but Rafa was a top manager. Rafa got a side who looked mostly relegation candidate to a good finish last year. Victory against Manchester City was a example of Rafa’s skills as a manager. They are a strong physical side and still have a good squad to survive but nothing more than that.
Drinkwater: I'm Raring To Gohttps://t.co/xkH48krwZx
— Burnley FC (@BurnleyOfficial) August 8, 2019
This is a side which resembles Grit, Bravery, Physicality and Hard Work. Sean Dysche has really made them a hard side to beat. To get them into UEFA Europa league qualifiers last year was a huge achievement. Last year they struggled but still survived comfortably in the end. This year they haven’t dwell much into transfer market but Getting Danny Drinkwater and Jay Rodriguez are fine acquisitions. Many have Burnley to struggle this year. But i believe their experience and grit with expertise of Dysche will get them a fine 14th finish.
Getting @premierleague ready! 👊
— Southampton FC (@SouthamptonFC) August 7, 2019
This might again surprise some of you. I really like what Ralph Hassenhuttl is trying to implement at Southampton. They have got some additions like Che Adams and getting Danny Ings permanently. These additions doesn’t guarantee they won’t struggle. But i am taking a chance on them and believe they will have a fine season. Under this new manager they will be a exciting side to watch.
12th Aston Villa
— Aston Villa (@AVFCOfficial) August 1, 2019
Aston Villa are another side which would surprise some people this season. Because of their extraordinary transfer activity many are resembling them to Fulham’s season last year. They have spent around 150 Million this summer. They already have a very talented player in Jack Grealish. Dean smith is a very exciting manager who wants to play a good brand of football. With having a brave personality like John Terry as their assistant, it is a good team. The ambition shown by them shows they are not here just to survive but become a top 10 club in future. People will say same could be said for Fulham but Aston Villa have made some sensible signings. Mings was solid for them last year. Tom Heaton from burnley is another solid addition. This is why i believe they have got enough to get a 12th finish.
11th Watford FC
You asked, we delivered…
Five-year deal ✅
Club record fee ✅
Squad number 23 ✅#AnnounceSarr
— Watford Football Club (@WatfordFC) August 8, 2019
Watford completed the signing of Sarr from Stade Rennais on deadline day. He is an exciting young player with Extraordinary speed. He caught everyone’s eye when Rennais played Arsenal in Europa League. But Sarr for me doesn’t change my prediction for Watford. They are a exciting side with many young talented players and a good coach. But i don’t think they are yet a side who can contest for the Europa League spots and will have a decent 11th finish.
10th West Ham
Another summer transfer window to remember! 👏😍 pic.twitter.com/2IY1jsgiVr
— West Ham United (@WestHam) August 8, 2019
Getting Haller and Fornals are a big Coup for West Ham. They already have Anderson in attack with Rice and Diop to protect the defence. Problem for them is overall team cohesion and effectiveness. Last year they started with four defeats on the trot. They had Chelsea and Manchester United to face and they took a win and a draw from it. They have a good squad and it won’t surprise me if they fight for the 7th position. But i think their lack of Cohesion will get them a 10th finish.
9th Leicester City
— Leicester City (@LCFC) August 8, 2019
This again might surprise a few of you. Many have them as the side who will break into top 6. Getting Rodgers as the manager was a good move by Leicester. I just have this feeling that this is a transition year for them. They will impress some times but mistakes will also be made. 9th is overall a decent year for Leicester and will be a good way to build for the future. Getting Tielemans, Praet and Ayoze Perez are solid additions but time has to be given for them to fully fire. Losing Maguire for me could be a huge difference for Leicester to finish 7th to 9th and that made me predict this outcome for Leicester. I won’t be surprised if they stun everyone but right now i think its difficult for them to disturb the top 6.
✍️ Signed, sealed, delivered!
— Everton (@Everton) August 8, 2019
Losing Idrissa Gueye will be a big blow to Everton. But they atleast have got some solid additions. Gomes has been signed permanently along with getting Iwobi. Moise Keane is a solid addition for present and future. Also Jean Philippe Gbamin is a good Gueye replacement. Defence is a major issue for them. Losing Zouma was a big blow for them. But i think firepower at the top and home form will prevail them to the 8th position. Last year they had a strong ending which shows they have understood what Silva wants from them.
7th Wolverhampton Wanderers
Patrick Cutrone will be Wolves' new number 🔟
— Wolves (@Wolves) August 8, 2019
They have had another solid transfer window. This is one side i think which can break into top 6 in the future. From getting Jiminez permanently to adding Cutrone in the firepower ranks, it has been a solid window. There is a major doubt to how will they manage both Premier League and Europa League. But i believe they will be a major threat for Arsenal and Manchester United in the Europa League. In a two legged knockout they are a formidable side. Also i think they have enough depth for surviving the season and finishing at the 7th position.
✍️ Nicolas Pepe
✍️ Dani Ceballos
✍️ Kieran Tierney
✍️ David Luiz
✍️ Gabriel Martinelli
✍️ William Saliba
A Twitter thread has gone viral which shows exactly how Arsenal spent £140m with a £45m budget… 👏🏼👏🏼 https://t.co/t5VpUEH2sM
— SPORTbible (@sportbible) August 13, 2019
Now this will stun some people. I am not predicting this because i am a Chelsea fan but it was well thought by me when making this prediction. It gives you excitement and goosebumps when your club signs a player of calibre of Nicolas Pepe. Arsenal deserve a lot of credit for this great window. But football is not won by just having attacking qualities. Arsenal remind me of Liverpool of 2016/17 season. They had Coutinho, Firmino and Mane but had Moreno, Klavan, Lovren and Clyne in defence. Arsenal scored 73 goals last year but conceded 51 which was 9th highest in the League. Luiz is great and i will say one of the best in the League when it comes to ball playing ability but what Arsenal need is good defending. This is why they will miss top 4.
5th Manchester United
We have an important announcement to make…
— Manchester United (@ManUtd) August 5, 2019
Manchester United for me have done solid business this season. Getting Wan Bissaka and Maguire is top business. Their defence now is strong and brave. Their biggest weakness of last season has gone away. Problem of midfield for me is a big headache. Mctominay and Matic will be fighting to partner Pogba in 2 man midfield. Matic has really declined over the years and Mctominay looks good but is still young. United really are one injury to Pogba away to have a midfield chaos. When you play above 50 matches a season you need to have replacements. Their defence for me is better than Arsenal and Chelsea. Problem for me is midfield for which i put them 5th. But won’t be surprised if they get midfielder in January and finish top 4. Although they still look most likely to win Europa League.
Chelsea Football Club has today issued the following statement. https://t.co/V4HBdmdcyr
— Chelsea FC (@ChelseaFC) February 22, 2019
This announcement in February was a major disappointment for Chelsea. The appeal was also not successful. They got Pulisic in January and Kovacic permanently due to loan agreement. This is the reason many are underestimating them. Many surprisingly are saying they will be out of top 6. I put them 4th. I won’t be surprised if they get 6th as i think 4th, 5th and 6th positions will be conjusted. But their midfield is very exciting and tenacious. in wings they have exciting Pulisic and Hudson Odoi. Their downfall could be striker and a modern right back. Azpillicueta struggles offensively and James is talented but its unsure will he step up. Overall they have a good squad which many are refusing to see. Its about application from them.
It’s time to say #HolaLoCelso!
— Tottenham Hotspur (@SpursOfficial) August 8, 2019
I predicted them 2nd this year when the player above was signed. But their right back problem made me put them 3rd. I don’t consider them as title challengers this season and right back problem will cause major problems. They had lost Trippier to Athletico and they have not replaced him. Aurier hasn’t set the world alight and Walker Peter is young. Signings of Ndombele and Lo celso really strengthens their midfield and defence is already strong. But i beleive their right position and lack of bench strength makes them finish at 3rd.
— Liverpool FC (@LFC) August 5, 2019
Only signing as a back up. Jurgen Klopp has made this Liverpool team a exciting and a exhilarating side. This side gives you goosebumps when they are on their level best. To get 97 points last year was a massive achievement and a Champions League along with it. To beat Barcelona 4-0 after losing 3-0 is massive even if Barcelona have been having nightmare results at away for some time. Their squad is very strong but not strengthening it can be massive blunder. When you are competing with Manchester City, you have to grow every year. They have a substitute bench which is capable of winning the Premier League. Last year was over achievement for me. Their first eleven can beat City but bench strength is not there. That is why i think they will again go without winning the league.
1st Manchester City
✍️Done deal! Welcome to the Champions, Rodri 🔥
— Manchester City (@ManCity) July 4, 2019
Their are not enough words to describe this team. If they win this year their is no doubt they could be one of the best English teams. Only Champions League is eluding them. Many think this the reason they might not prioritize the league. But i think knockouts starts in February and they might get themselves away from chasing pack. They also have a bench strength which can also win the Premier League. We all know Guardiola is a winner and he won’t settle for anything less than winning. Signing Rodri shows it. They only struggled last year when Fernandinho was injured and now have a younger version of him. Also Kevin De Bruyne was injured last year. This shows the strength they have. Therefore i think they will win it for third time in a row.
These are my premier League Predictions. Hope you enjoy and leave your opinions in the comment section.
